66 Students Graduate from GLOBIS University Part-time & Online MBA Program
Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo–Graduate School of Management, GLOBIS University held its graduation ceremony for the 13th graduating class of the English Part-time & Online MBA Program on November 19, 2023. The event, held both online and in-person at the Tokyo campus, celebrated 66 graduates from 19 unique countries and regions around the world.
The GLOBIS English Part-time & Online MBA Program was launched in 2009, with the online component introduced in 2017. The English MBA program has since celebrated a total of 830 graduates.
In his commencement speech, President and Founder of GLOBIS University, Yoshito Hori, encouraged students to continue to push themselves even after concluding their studies at GLOBIS;
“Adversity is a great opportunity to improve yourself. If you are in your comfort zone, you are not learning or improving yourself. We want you to be courageous. To enjoy taking risks, facing adversity, and improving yourself. If you keep repeating this cycle, you will become the role models of those who will follow you.”
Two graduates gave speeches that reflected back on the last two years of their studies while also expressing excitement and determination for a brighter future.
Nadiya Tovstukha, a graduate from Ukraine, affirmed to her classmates that pushing through harrowing adversities gave her a deeper understanding of herself and her life’s purpose.
‘’These past two years tested my capacities to the fullest! With a full time job, GLOBIS studies, paperwork, recovery from surgery, taking care of my family in a war zone, relocating, grieving friends who lost their lives, volunteering, more paperwork, and many other things. People’s capacities are limitless indeed. This study gave me a better understanding of my purpose (my kokorozashi), and a deeper understanding of my inner values. I gained the courage to stand up for what I believe is right. And thanks to my classmates I understood what life is about.’’
Graduate Cody McConnell joined the ceremony remotely from the United States to encourage his classmates to continue pushing themselves moving forward.
‘’We must never stop growing. And we must never stop striving. We must use what we’ve learned through the lenses of our personal development to do something. Only you can determine what that thing is, how it is accomplished, and the meaning behind it. But you are the central point. You have to use what you’ve learned as the person who you’ve become.’’
