GLOBIS University Holds Graduation Ceremony for the Part-time and Online English MBA Program
Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo–GLOBIS University held its graduation ceremony for the 10th graduating class of the Part-time and Online English MBA Program on November 22, 2020. The event, held both online and at the main campus in Tokyo, celebrated 66 graduates from 17 countries.
The GLOBIS English Part-Time MBA Program was launched in 2009 (with the online component introduced in 2017) and has since celebrated a total of 368 graduates.
Delivering the commencement speech, president and founder of GLOBIS University Yoshito Hori shared encouragement for students to appreciate adversity: “Adversity holds great opportunities to improve yourself. As long as you are in your comfort zone, you are not learning or improving.”
Two graduates also gave speeches, expressing their determination to pursue newfound career aspirations.
Mr. Akinori Morita, a graduate from Japan, spoke about how the sheer scale of his GLOBIS learning experience made it necessary to prioritize lessons learned. Ultimately, he realized that simply discovering his sense of “being” and “meaning” were most valuable.
Mr. Aaron Lau, a graduate from Malaysia, likened his experience to a Chinese proverb: “‘A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step’. For me, the journey through the GLOBIS MBA has triggered continuous self-reflection, self-discovery, and self-action.”
With almost 40% of students coming from outside of Japan, the GLOBIS MBA offers a global study experience, whether online or in person. This year’s graduates come from 17 countries: Brazil, Cameroon, China, France, India, Iran, Japan, Malaysia, Nepal, Nigeria, the Philippines, Russia, Senegal, Taiwan, Thailand, the United States and Vietnam.
