President Yoshito Hori said in his speech, “If you have five perspectives (global, historical, philosophical, integrity, and a sense of mission), together with the skills needed for creation and innovation, I am fully convinced that you will be starting your new journey as visionary leaders who create and innovate societies.”
Three graduates also gave speeches, expressing their admiration for their classmates and determination to pursue their aspirations. Jonas Hult, from Sweden, said, “We have learned together, grown together and are finally about to graduate together. Here at GLOBIS I have made friends whom I know will last me a lifetime, and not since high school have I felt such as sense of community. I came to GLOBIS thinking about my personal benefit. I leave with a desire to develop others and help shape the increasing diversity in Japanese society and workplaces to something good.”

Student Activities

GLOBIS University is expanding its selection of Technovate courses, which train a new era of business leaders who understand state-of-the-art technology and innovation. In addition to existing courses such as Technovate Thinking and Technovate Strategy, the English MBA program now includes Robotics Business Innovation and Innovation through Virtual Teams, bringing the total to 14 courses in 2019, up from 8 courses the previous year. Students learned about new business challenges, opportunities, and solutions for the Technovate Era.
(2) Continuation of Activities through the Corporate Mentoring Program (CMP)
GLOBIS continues its CMP efforts through alliances with 125 global companies in Japan, a number that grows every year. These alliances provide internships (100+ hours) and activities to learn about the work and corporate culture of Japanese companies. On Nov. 29, 2019, GLOBIS will host its annual CMP Conference, welcoming Mr. Takanori Azuma, Gen. Manager of the Human Resources Division of Toyota Motor Corporation, to discuss how to engage local (non-Japanese) staff at overseas subsidiaries. (Speech in Japanese. More information here.)
(3) Exchange Programs with other Top MBA Schools in Asia
In May 2019, GLOBIS students participated in study exchanges with Chulalongkorn University in Thailand and CEIBS (China Europe International Business School), two of the leading MBA schools in Asia. While on the exchange, they visited local companies, including organic farms to learn about business and SDGs. In turn, students from these schools visited Japan, visiting Japanese companies and attending special lectures given by GLOBIS University faculty members on nurturing their kokorozashi, or personal mission.
