53 Students Graduate from GLOBIS University Part-time and Online English MBA Program

Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo–GLOBIS University held its graduation ceremony for the 12th graduating class of the Part-time and Online English MBA Program on November 20, 2022. The event, held both online and in-person at the Tokyo campus, celebrated 53 graduates from 18 countries.

The GLOBIS English Part-time MBA Program was launched in 2009, with the online component introduced in 2017. The English MBA program has since celebrated a total of 741 graduates.

In his commencement speech, President and Founder of GLOBIS University, Yoshito Hori, shared encouragement for students to push themselves; 

“Enjoy your adventures. We have been teaching you to take risks. If you do not take risks, you will not gain any return or add value to societies. We want you to be adventurous and visionary. If you take risks, you will surely face adversity. Adversity is a great opportunity to improve yourself. If you are in your comfort zone, you are not learning or improving.”

Two graduates gave speeches, reflecting on the last two years of their studies and expressing excitement for what the future holds.

Daniel Moraru, a graduate from Romania, and recipient of the Academic Award of Excellence, showed gratitude for the support he received over the last two years. He said, 

“We have been empowered to have a totally new, positive perspective of our situations, of our problems, and ourselves. This is one reason why we were able to overcome difficulties and thrive as a team during one of the most challenging periods in recent history together… Let’s keep exploring, let’s continue to study with purpose, and let’s share and mix our purpose and our kokorozashi.”

Myra Almilla, a graduate from the Philippines, spoke about the journey of fulfilling her kokorozashi. “This MBA is just the beginning, and we still have to navigate the uncharted path towards our kokorozashi. Knowing that we are in this together, we are stronger than when we started at GLOBIS.”

With almost 40% of students coming from outside of Japan, the GLOBIS MBA offers a global study experience, both online and in person. This year’s graduates come from 18 countries: Australia, Canada, China, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Myanmar, Nepal, the Philippines, Romania, South Africa, South Korea, Thailand, Turkey, The UK, The US, and Vietnam.
