GLOBIS Receives First Patent for AI-Based Grading System

Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo–On September 13, 2021, GLOBIS received its first ever patent. The GLOBIS AI Document Evaluation System (GAiDES) is a report grading system that uses our own proprietary AI for natural language text analysis.

The GAiDES AI was developed by the GLOBIS AI Management Education Research Institute (GAiMERi). It is trained on general data, as well as text corpus from Nikkei and GLOBIS publications such as GLOBIS Chikenroku. Grading criteria is defined by GLOBIS University. With the assistance of GAiDES, lecturers can reduce time spent on repetitive grading and focus on quality feedback for students.

Tomoko Kimijima, Faculty Director and Research Director of GAiMERi, commented on the patent acquisition:

About GAiMERi
GLOBIS established GAiMERi in February 2017 to digitize educational data from the Graduate School of Management, GLOBIS University. Kenichi Suzuki, Professor at GLOBIS University, is the Research Director of GAiMERi. The organization also has three advisory board members: Kazuto Ataka, Professor at the Faculty of Environment and Information Studies, Keio University and CSO of Yahoo Japan Corporation; Kentaro Inui, Professor at the Graduate School of Information Sciences, Tohoku University; and Yutaka Matsuo, Professor at the Graduate School of Engineering, the University of Tokyo.
