GLOBIS Unveils New Logo, Voted on by the GLOBIS Community

Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo—GLOBIS Corporation is pleased to announce the redesign of its corporate logo. GLOBIS has been working with design innovation firm Takram Japan K.K. to promote the brand project for the past year. The project began on August 1st, the anniversary of the company’s founding, when GLOBIS surveyed students, alumni, faculty, business partners, employees, and other stakeholders about their thoughts on changing the current logo.

New Logo Design Concept and Color

The new logo design is based on the concept of the ‘GLOBIS Blue Flame.’ The imagery symbolizes the strong will, intelligence, and passion that resides in the hearts of people who come to GLOBIS.

The newly selected corporate color is ‘GLOBIS Blue,’ a nod to the blue flame concept that represents the burning ambition of GLOBIS’s stakeholders. And a unique universal font was developed in order to ensure synergy between the development of various GLOBIS businesses activities in Japan and overseas.

To continue the legacy of the original design, the distinctive G square mark of the original logo has been carried over to the new design. The diagonal upward line of the G in the new logo expresses speed and strength of will.

GLOBIS plans to gradually roll out the new logo starting from April 2024.

The Brand Project

GLOBIS celebrated its 30th anniversary on August 1, 2022. Since its establishment, GLOBIS has worked to realize its vision of creating and transforming society by creating an ecosystem of people, capital, and knowledge.

In more recent years, the organization has promoted a new way of management called ‘Technovate,’ through the use of cutting-edge technology, like a generative AI, and continues to pursue new ways of learning to continue developing the leaders of the Technovate era.

Now, GLOBIS has changed its goal from becoming “Asia’s No. 1 MBA” to “the world’s No. 1 MBA in the Technovate era,” and is expanding its activities globally. 2022 saw the launch of GLOBIS Europe in Belgium, which also serves as the base for EMEA. GLOBIS currently operates in China, Singapore, Thailand, the United States, and Belgium.

In August 2022, an internal, cross-functional team was established to create a brand design more in tune with modern times. Takram CEO Kinya Tagawa joined the team, bringing his extensive experience in branding to the project. The new logo design is a culmination of the team’s hard work during the one-year internal brand review.

Logo Proposals and Voting

This year, multiple rounds of voting were held with three logo options: two new proposals by Takram (A and B), and the original logo (C). In the final poll, 54.9% of GLOBIS employees voted for proposal A, which has since been adopted as the new corporate logo.

The difference between proposal A and B is the square mark on the far left. Although proposal A received the largest number of votes in the end, since many votes were also submitted for proposal B, the team believes there is a strong connection to the square mark. In response, different designs incorporating a square such as SNS icons are being considered.

“We’ve used that same logo for 31 years. But around the time of the company’s 30th anniversary, our in-house designers expressed strong opinions about changing it, so we initiated a new project. I asked that our stakeholders participate in the vote so that we could hear as many opinions as possible.

We would like to thank our students, alumni, faculty members, business partners, portfolio companies, employees, and all other stakeholders who cast their votes for the corporate logo. We hope you enjoy the new logo, and that GLOBIS will continue to grow.

To further promote social contribution through business, the cornerstone of our management philosophy, GLOBIS is using its 30th anniversary as a chance to reposition itself as a social-contribution-first company.”
