CATEGORIES:GLOBIS UNIVERSITY

Chiyoda-ku, TokyoGLOBIS University held its annual entrance ceremony for the 2022 English MBA programs on September 11. A hybrid ceremony welcomed students both online and on campus. This year, 74 students from 22 countries are entering the Part-time and Online MBA Program, while 22 students from 12 countries have enrolled in the Full-time MBA Program.

GLOBIS University President Yoshito Hori welcomed the aspiring business leaders in a special address. He said,

“I ask you to learn to take risks. If you do not take risks, there will be no value-added to societies, therefore no return to you and society…The outcome after your time here is really up to you. We have extremely talented faculty and staff, providing you with great opportunities to learn. Please take advantage of them and stretch yourself and grow.”

Based on the educational principles of GLOBIS—building career skills, fostering a network, and cultivating a personal mission—he encouraged them to become visionary leaders who create and innovate global societies.

Three student representatives addressed their fellow incoming classmates. Among them, Alexander Cashen, a student from New Zealand joining the Part-time and Online MBA Program, spoke about his goal to make the world safer through technology, and how GLOBIS fits into his journey:

“I want to do more, and I believe that GLOBIS will help me develop the skills to do so. I have failed before and there have been challenges I couldn’t overcome because I lacked the necessary skills. However, already with the knowledge I’ve gained during my Pre-MBA, I’m confident that I can overcome some of those same challenges the next time I face them after completing my MBA.”

Another incoming Part-time and Online MBA student, Tomo Wakatsuki from Japan, spoke about her motivations and the challenges ahead. She said,

“I know that there will be many challenges such as balancing school with work, raising children while studying, and connecting from different time zones. Together with great supporters around us, I am sure we will overcome challenges that may come our way and make the best out of our time at GLOBIS.”

Adisara (Zen) Puangchompoo from Thailand, the Full-time MBA Program representative, said, “I want to redefine, strengthen, and nurture the people through my business. That is why I am here today – to collect and sharpen my weapons and prepare myself for the next business battlefields and find where I stand in this business world.” Adisara is an artist who plans to take over her family’s garment business.

The 96 incoming students come from 26 countries: Bangladesh, Belgium, Bulgaria, China, Cuba, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Jamaica, Kenya, Lithuania, Malaysia, Mexico, Myanmar, Netherlands, New Zealand, Philippines, South Korea, Thailand,  the United Kingdom, the United States, and Vietnam.
