GLOBIS USA Kicks off with Online Launch Event Featuring Tom Kelley
San Francisco, California–On January 13, 2022, GLOBIS USA, Inc. will host “Creative Confidence for Start-ups,” an online launch event featuring guest speaker Tom Kelley, partner at IDEO and founder and chairman at D4V (Design for Ventures). Tomoya Nakamura, president of GLOBIS USA, will join Kelley to discuss how design impacts customer experience and drives growth. This will be the first event hosted by GLOBIS USA, Inc. since its offices opened in April 2021.
Kelley is a respected global authority on critical business skills such as storytelling and design thinking. He will shed light on how business leaders can build confidence through creativity. Participants will be encouraged to think about design, innovation, and customer satisfaction through an entrepreneurial lens.
GLOBIS USA invites both aspiring and accomplished business leaders to join a thought-provoking evening of unique global perspectives on the role of creativity in business.

Tom Kelley
Tom Kelley is a partner at global design and innovation firm IDEO and co-founder and chairman of D4V (Design for Ventures), a Tokyo-based venture capital firm. During his thirty-plus years at IDEO, he has shared lessons from the firm’s experience by authoring multiple books, including The Art of Innovation and the New York Times bestseller Creative Confidence.
Kelley is also a leading speaker on innovation, presenting to hundreds of business audiences in Asia, Europe, and North America on how to nurture innovative corporate cultures and tap into the creative potential of teams. He has addressed students and executives at some of the world’s top business schools and was named the first-ever executive fellow at UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business.
Tomoya Nakamura
Tomoya Nakamura is the president of GLOBIS USA, Inc., prior to which he served as dean of the English MBA Programs at the Graduate School of Management, GLOBIS University. He started his career at Marubeni Corporation, from which he was seconded to Advantage Partners to assist with the reorganization of invested companies. He then served as senior managing director at Sun-Life Corporation, where he introduced a progressive ESOP for more than 250 employees.
Nakamura earned his MBA from Harvard Business School and holds a BA from Hitotsubashi University. As a lecturer for GLOBIS University, he specializes in entrepreneurial leadership.
